Our airline

More than forty years in Sudanese and African aviation, carrying passengers since 1991.

Flying since 1991

Sun Air began in 1981 and has flown since 1991, first under the name Air West. We were the first privately held airline in Sudan to fly internationally, into Africa and the Gulf. In 2008 Air West became Sun Air Aviation, and scheduled passenger services grew across Sudan and the region.

Long before most passengers knew our name, our aircraft were flying for the United Nations, the Red Cross, UNICEF, the World Food Programme and the African Union. That history is the airline you board today.
